Licuala grandis Palm Tree Seedlings
Licuala grandis, despite its misleading name, produces one of the smallest leaves amongst the
many Licuala species, which makes it a very neat, dainty and ornamental palm tree, widely cultivated
in private and public gardens. Truly beautiful specimens are rare, however, because Licuala
grandis does not respond well to dry, hot and sunny conditions although it is nevertheless quite hardy
in such unfavorable conditions. Although it is strictly a tropical palm tree, this species has enjoyed
considerable success as a greenhouse plant in non-tropical regions.
The Ruffled Fan Palm produces crimson fruit in great abundance annually
the size and shape of peas. A specimen in full fruit is very
attractive. The Ruffled Fan Palm
is a slow growing palm tree requiring a small root ball which makes it
an excellent species for growing in tubs.
Much fertilization is required. An established mature specimen can
withstand considerable direct sunshine.
